i had a triathlon in st. petersburg today called st. anthony's. i finished in 2:50:36. and i was pretty happy with the results considering the conditions (hot, wavy and me not training on my bike as much as i wanted/needed to).
my wave started at almost 9 am (most of my races start around 7ish). the ocean was pretty rough, and there were close to 200 people in my wave which caused quite a bit of chaos in the already chaotic water. i finished the swim in 27:30. my quads were a little tight on the bike but i managed to push through in 1:18. and finally on to the run, OH THE RUN. it started with major cramps in my calfs, then went to my shins and ended in major arch pain in my right foot. it's actually swollen tonight and is killing me to even walk. needless to say, it made for a not so fun 6.2 miles. but i ran through the pain, a tad slower than i wanted but still not that bad. it took me 1 hour exactly.
all in all, it was a good, fun day. there were about 40 pros that raced so it was awesome watching them (the ONLY positive thing of starting the race at 9 am. in fact, the first 3 males finished their race before i even started!!)
a big shout out to my friend aileen who raced in her first international distance today. and a little shout out to my new biker short tan. yea...it's pretty sweet. i'm not gonna lie.
pics to come (no, not of the tan but of me looking like i am dying in the race) :)
